After 17 years in Hayes Valley, Todd—better known to many as @TheGateGuySF—is beginning his next chapter and leaving San Francisco. His amazing monthly Page Street gate installations will be greatly missed, as will his kind and generous creative presence in our community.
A core member of Hayes Valley Art Works, beloved neighborhood dog walker, gate artist, drag-show prop maker, chalk artist, pet parade wrangler, and all-around fun-meister, Todd has brought color, creativity, and joy to our community for nearly two decades.

❤️ Please donate to support Todd’s Farewell Artist-in-Residence residency month at Hayes Valley Art Works. Your generosity will help fund a month of new gallery and garden installations, special community events, and a celebration of everything Todd has contributed to Hayes Valley.
Throughout August, Todd will create new work, reimagine favorite installations, and transform both our gallery and garden as Artist-in-Residence. Artwork will be available for purchase throughout the residency. Proceeds will help Todd with his move, while a portion of every sale supports Hayes Valley Art Works.

Hayes Valley Art Works is a unique community space where art, music, and a garden grow side by side. We host free and low-cost exhibitions, live music, workshops, and outdoor gatherings that bring people together in the heart of Hayes Valley.
We are currently operating without grant funding. The funds we raise now directly support exhibitions, our community garden, hands-on art activities, weekend workshops, and our beloved monthly Jazz Jam, held on the last Saturday of every month for the past five years.
We are also building our summer program calendar, including a new exhibition and additional workshops and community events.
