Call for Art: HVAW Spring Art Show
Theme: BLOSSOM & SWING: Art, Color & Groove

Artists and creators — join us for a vibrant celebration of spring energy, color, rhythm, movement, and groove!
We invite artists to submit work that pulses, bold in color, alive with gesture and momentum. Think improvisation made visible: paintings that groove, sculptures that sway, photographs that catch the moment mid-swing. All styles and subjects welcome. Garden subjects go well with our gallery in garden, but not required. Works should feel at home in an intimate gallery space and pair naturally with live jazz in a community garden. Small to medium scale preferred (12″–24″ encouraged).
All media welcome: Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, multimedia, 3D, fiber art, ceramics, and more.
Entry Fee: $25 (covers up to 3 submissions, exhibition, online promotion, and the art reception in our beautiful community garden).
Local Bay Area artists are especially encouraged to apply. Each exhibiting artist will be asked to contribute two 2-hour volunteer gallery shifts (4 hours total) during the run.
How to Submit:
- Submit up to 3 pieces via our Google Form.
- Upload images or documents directly in the form.
- Include a copy of your $25 payment receipt (paid via the link below).
- File Naming Convention: Lastname_Firstname_Title_Dimensions_Medium_Price Example: Artistname-CatsAtWork-Watercolor-6×6-$150.jpg
Application Guidelines:
- All media welcome.
- Images: Minimum 72 dpi, maximum 300 dpi, no larger than 2 MB per file.
- Quicktime video clips: 30 seconds maximum.
- Submit an Exhibition List (title, medium, size, year, price — including commission).
- Include a short Artist Statement (100 words) and Artist Biography (100 words).
- Resume/CV optional but welcome.
Sales Commission: 30% to HVAW if the artist completes their 4 volunteer hours (artist retains 70%). If shifts are not completed, commission may increase to 50%. Please price accordingly.
