Hayes Valley Art Works – Spring 2025 Garden Show Submittal 

Hayes Valley Art Works is accepting submissions for  our themed group exhibition, “Art from the Garden,”  to be shown in Spring 2025.  This call is open to the public.

Deadline Extended: Applications accepted through MARCH 1st, 2025.

Description: Call for art inspired by gardens, including our beautiful garden spaces on Octavia Boulevard between Oak and Page. 

Our gallery is at 295 Oak Street, San Francisco, CA.  We encourage artists to visit our garden on weekends between 12-4 for inspiration, or any local garden. Submissions can be any medium, including two-dimensional images such as photographs, paintings, and drawings, three-dimensional pieces created to blend into the space, and written or performance pieces are all eligible.   All mediums and subjects related to gardens or abstractions based on garden theme are welcome; artists at all stages in their art career are invited to submit.

Eligible: Local artists (within 50 miles of San Francisco) are encouraged to apply.  We request each exhibiting artist be available to do two 2-hours volunteer gallery shifts (4 hours total).

Commission: Works that sell while on exhibit are subject to a 25% commission, artist retains 75% as long as the artist completes their 4 hours gallery shifts, otherwise a 50% commission may apply.  Please take this into consideration when assigning artwork prices.

Application Guidelines:

  • All media is welcome (painting, photography, sculpture, installations, etc.)
  • Submit up to 6 images that accurately represent your work.
  • Do not exceed 30 seconds for Quicktime video clips.
  • Images should be no smaller than 72 dpi or bigger than 300 dpi and should not exceed 10 MB per file.
  • Save all files as Lastname_Firstname_Title_Dimensions. If the submission file of artwork isn’t saved as requested, the work will not be considered.

Additional required documents:

  • Exhibition list outlining each artwork submitted with title, medium, size, year, and price (including commission)
  • Resume or CV
  • Artist statement (100 words)
  • Artist biography (100 words)

Submission:

  • All submissions must be sent through our Google Form.  
  • No email submissions will be accepted.

Only complete proposals that adhere to the submission guidelines will be considered.
